Report: Roy, Blankenburg, O’Connor on the ice for Avs morning skate

Nicolas Roy will make his Avs debut Friday night in Dallas

In the midst of today’s NHL Trade Deadline, came some interesting news from our friends at DNVR who are live in Dallas for tonight’s showdown against the Stars.

Newly acquired players Nicolas Roy and Nick Blankenburg have met the team in Dallas and were on the ice for morning skate.

For Blankenburg it’s not a huge surprise, as he came from Nashville and that trade was two days ago. But for Roy, this comes as a pretty big shock to the fans and media around the team. He was traded from Toronto, so he had to go through immigration paperwork yesterday, and sometimes that can cause a bit of delay in players showing up for their new teams over the border.

Nonetheless, both new guys are with the team and ready to make an impression. Jared Bednar confirmed after the skate that Nicolas Roy will make his debut today for the Avs.

As for Blankenburg, we will have to wait and see what pairings looked like during the skate and the lineup shows to see if he gets into the lineup.

Another piece of good news also hit our timelines regarding this skate, and that was that forward Logan O’Connor was on the ice in a regular white jersey, in contrast to the non-contact jersey he had been wearing.

No word on where LOC was slotting during the skate, or when he will be returning to the lineup, but this is a great step in that direction.
